Saiya-jin The very basic of what the race is. Pure breed Saiya-jins have congruent traits which include: black hair (which never changes from birth, and a long, red tail. Partial-breeds may have different colored hair that grows like normal human hair. The only good thing about this stage is the ability to become an Oozaru, a giant ape monster that multiplies the Saiya-jin's c'hi by ten. This can only be achieved on the night of a full moon with a Saiya-jin who has a tail.

Super Saiya-jin This stage is achieved when a normal Saiya-jin is enraged at someone or something. Intense anger and a pure heart (good or evil, pure works both ways) are essential to this transformation. Some traits are: golden hair that sticks up, green eyes, enhanced power and speed. Achieved by most of the main character Saiya-jins.
Ultimate Super Saiya-jin One step above Super Saiya-jin, one below level 2. It has the same traits as a regular Super Saiya-jin, except the muscles bulge and speed, movement, and reflexes take a dive.
Super Saiya-jin Level 2 Also, like level 1, achieved through intense rage. A good amount of training is also required. The hair grows longer and sticks out a weirder angles, but appearence stays basically the same. Speed and such are regained.---------->
Super Saiya-jin Level 3 Unlike the first two, this level can only be realized by intense training. The hair grows extremely long and thick, and the eyebrows disappear. (Note: Only two warriors grew to this level. They were Goku, and Gotenks). Though neither Trunks nor Goten could transform to this state, their fused form had no trouble.
Super Saiya-jin Level 4 The final stage. (Or, depending on how you look at it, the first stage. It is rumored that this stage is a true Super Saiya-jin because it still has it's tail). After transforming into a Golden Oozaru and gaining control over his/her emotions, then a Saiya-jin can legitimately say that it has reached this level. Goku was the only one to really earn this level, as Vegeta used Bulma's "Brute Ray", and Gogeta was a fused form between the two.
